How would you like to take a trip around the South without ever leaving the comfort of your home? With the new Southern Living No Taste Like Home Cookbook, you can do just that (OK, I know it’s not the same as traveling, but it’s the next best thing). If you grew up in the South or just have a love for Southern food and travel, you’ll be delighted in this book that explores the culture, hospitality, charm and food of more than 20 of the South’s tastiest towns. Sound go so far? Keep reading to find out how to win a copy of this amazing 300+ page cookbook.
Award-winning food writer Kelly Alexander takes you on a culinary journey to six Southern regions of the country with recipes and cooking secrets of local chefs, celebrities and hometown cooks. You’ll find familiar favorites along with some new and unique recipes. Each chapter starts with the history of the region as well as highlights each hometown with a “Welcome to…” section. Sprinkled throughout the book are “Meet the Chef, Actress, Singer, Journalist, etc.” features along with things to do and foods to eat “Like a Local” features. This is a travel book, history book and cookbook all rolled into one!
No matter what part of the country you’re from, you’ll probably find some recipes that bring back happy memories of food from a family gathering or good old-fashioned dinner on the ground at church. My favorite Southern comfort food growing up was my Granny’s Chicken & Dumplings. There was nothing better as far as I was concerned and would have been happy if that was the only thing put on the table (which is never the case in a Southern home…you need cornbread or biscuits, beans and something sweet to top it off).
