Celebrating the opening of our first Trader Joe’s!

15 Trader Joe's Inspired Recipes

Excitement is in the air around here.  Our first ever Trader Joe’s is opening tomorrow!  It’s time for a major happy dance.  Since I’ve only been able to go to a TJ’s every now and then out of town, I’m really looking forward to going whenever the urge strikes and not have to stock up like there’s no tomorrow.   Now I’ll be able to get whatever I want instead of just buying the dry products due to traveling.  Watch out TJ’s;  I’m only 15 minutes away so you’ll be seeing me a lot.  Bring on the cookie butter, pound plus chocolate bars and more!  You might say I’m a little excited…like a kid at Christmas!

To celebrate, I’ve asked some of my blogging friends to share recipes using at least one product from Trader Joe’s.   All the bases are covered here:  breakfast, salads, entrees and sweets.  You can be sure I’ll be creating more recipes after trips to TJ’s too.  Enjoy this collection.

Let me know what your favorite TJ’s products are.  I need some recommendations to add to my growing list.

  1. Color me jealous, Robin – I still have to stock up on my favorites, because there is no TJs near me so far. I would think nearby Ithaca would get their attention, but not yet. Thanks for including my cookies, smuggled-across-state-lines TJs dark chocolate and all :)

Wish I had one your cookies right now Donalyn. I’m so excited I can hardly stand it, but I’m waiting a little while before going (I still have cookie butter on the shelf). The news has talked about how crazy opening weekend is going to be.

  2. Hello, Robin!

Your post is wonderful! Thank you and your friends for sharing all these great Trader Joe’s recipes.

Like you, I’m excited about our first Trader Joe’s opening tomorrow. I’ve visited a few in other states, but I never bought anything (except some delicious Fuji apples). I appreciate and excited about these wonderful recipes. Now, I’m ready to go shopping with a list in my hand.

The new store is also close to my house. I hope we bump into each other often in the aisles. :)

    Blessings,
    Maralee

  3. Thanks for including my CousCous salad, which uses their excellent Harvest Grains blend. I ALWAYS keep that stocked in my pantry, plus so many other things from TJs. You will love having one in town!

Dorothy, we’re glad the wait is finally over. It was announced over a year ago and opening day is almost here!

  4. Thanks so much for including my recipe – what a great list!

I hear you on TJ. The closest one is 3 hours away from me (and about 30 minutes from my parents), so I’m only there maybe twice a year. Thanks for including my bark!

  6. What a fun idea! We got Trader Joes last year and I love it! My Caribbean Cous Cous salad uses their Israeli Cous Cous

I’ve been to your TJ’s Julie. Love it! The mural of the Biltmore is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your recipe too! Happy Friday. :)

  7. Robin, what a fabulous recipe round up – thank you! Your lil’ sandwich cookies are calling my name… ;)

  8. Wendy says:

What a fun idea for a round-up, Robin! I am a confirmed TJ’s addict (there are 3 in St. Louis and one is within walking distance),but must admit that at first the place befuddled me. I could not figure out what all the fuss was about. Then slowly I found more and more oddities that we “couldn’t live without”. :) I recommend: edamame hummus, cheese selection and price is awesome, frozen precooked brown rice (for last minute meals), ethnic sauces and 3 cheese pasta sauce, baking supplies, and ground almonds (almond flour). Enjoy!

Thanks for the recommendations Wendy. I still haven’t gone to our new TJ’s yet…may give it another few days!
