Does your grocery store have buy one, get one deals? Mine has them every week and that’s when it’s time to stock up, especially when I have a coupon to add to the savings. When the sale flyer comes out, I start looking for BOGO deals to put on my shopping list and then check my coupon stash. There are also 50% off items too good to pass up. On my last trip to the store, I got a popular brand of chocolate chips as a BOGO deal and used a $.75 coupon. Score!!
Anyway, back to my Double Frosted Flake Butterfinger Cookies. I recently saw frosted corn flakes on sale and as I had been thinking of creating a new cookie using this cereal, it was time to take action. Then I spotted the chocolate frosted flakes and of course, they just jumped into my shopping cart. Why not use both kinds of cereal? Yes, that’s what I did. Once the dough was combined with the sweet mix-ins and the cookies were put in the oven, oh my! They smelled sooo good!!! If you must know, I was still between batches when I popped the first one in my mouth and may have had another 2 or 3 not too long after that (hmmm…I lost count). They are just the right mix of crunchy and chewy at the same time. Technically, since these cookies have cereal in them, you could have them for breakfast. Right?
As a sidenote, Mr. Chocoholic was glad all the chocolate frosted flakes weren’t used in this recipe. He’s been sprinkling them over chocolate ice cream and snacking on the dry cereal out of a cup. He loves his chocolate!
