A collection of cookies and bars to make any chocoholic happy.
The words don’t come easy for this post. You see, last Thursday night as I was going through my Facebook feed, there was an update I couldn’t believe. My friend and fellow blogger, Joan Hayes, from the incredible Chocolate, Chocolate and More blog had suddenly passed away. I sat there stunned, shocked and heartbroken all at the same time. These same feelings and more have been echoed across the food blogging community over and over ever since we heard the devastating news. Sentiments and special memories have been shared about Joan by so many people that she touched with her warm spirit.
Joan went to bed last Wednesday night feeling nauseous and never woke up. She had a heart attack. Joan leaves behind 3 precious children (teenagers), family and many friends that loved her so. Please keep them all in your prayers.
Joan and I were not only online friends, we also spent time together at food blogging conferences. We enjoyed a restaurant crawl in Asheville last year at Food Blog Forum and went to a new restaurant with a group before the Food & Wine Conference in Orlando a few months ago. She led a Facebook session that I sat in on. It was so good to see her smiling face. When I was going through the contacts on my phone a few days ago and saw her name, the tears started welling up. She will be greatly missed.
Since today is National Chocolate Day and Joan loved chocolate to the max, I’m sharing a collection of her cookies and bars with chocolate in them. Go ahead and bake a batch or two now. You can also refer back to them when it comes time to start baking cookies for the holidays or for any time you’re in a chocolate or cookie mood.
Please check these recipes out along with all her others and share her site with your friends and family. Follow the #chocolateforjoan hashtag for more yummy treats and other posts. Chocolate, Chocolate and More was Joan’s business and every visit, pin, tweet and share on social media helps support her blog and her children. Thank you.

I’ll soon be working on a chocolate tribute to Joan from her blogging friends. Stay tuned.
