Isn’t it fun to sit around with friends chatting about whatever comes to mind?  Well my friends, I’m starting a new feature on the blog to do just that.  I waffled around with a number of names and finally decided on “Table Talk.”  The term “table talk” is defined a few different ways, but the most common thread is “informal conversation” and that’s what this is going to be.

Table Talk 1 - NC Fall

There’s no telling what you might find in these posts.  It’ll be a mixed bag for sure….whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.  I’ll be sharing some of my favorite things and finds, photos, stuff I’ve found online that I want you to see, life happenings and more.

OK….let’s get this party started.  Pull up a chair and get comfy.

We got away for a few days last month to North Carolina to see some fall color (above photos).  The color in the upper elevations was just spectacular.  One of the most gorgeous views on the Blue Ridge Parkway was looking toward the Linn Cove Viaduct.  Unfortunately, there wasn’t a safe place to pull off to take a picture.  That didn’t stop some leaf lookers as they parked on any little spot of ground they could find….pretty dangerous if you ask me.  Photos:  view looking off Grandfather Mountain, Looking Glass Falls near Brevard, Price Lake near Blowing Rock.

Table Talk 1 - fall mantle

This is my sister’s fall mantel.  She’s really got the decorating touch to the max.  Wait until you see the Santa display she puts out for Christmas.

Table Talk 1 - chalkboard table and chairs

I saw this kids’ chalkboard top table and chair set in an antique store some time back and got tickled when I saw the message on the top.  Guess it worked as the set is no longer there.

Table Talk 1 - decorated fall tree

If you want to put up your Christmas tree real early, you could deck the halls for fall like this one I saw at an antique store.

We’ve all heard the saying that laughter is good medicine.  Here’s proof.  We were sitting around the dinner table with family from out of town one day having a good time and talking up a storm.   Laughter was in good supply from different stories being told.  Hubby looked at his Fitbit and realized his steps had increased….and he hadn’t even gotten up from the table.  It was all the laughing we were doing!  Well, I started monitoring my Fitbit Zip and mine were going up too.  Who would have thought that a good belly laugh would increase your steps?  I like that kind of exercise!

Here are some online finds you need to check out:

Caramel Apple Blondie Cheesecake (Life, Love & Sugar)
This would be dangerous to have around me….I could probably eat the entire thing by myself!  And, while you’re over there, check out Lindsay’s big announcement about her cookbook that’s going to be all about cake.  I just know it’s going to be a hit…she’s one talented baker.

Butterfinger Dessert Pancakes (Picky Palate)
My friend Jenny has done it again.  Butterfinger pancakes topped with peanut butter and a warm chocolate sauce.  Hold me back!

S’Mores and Hot Cocoa Bonfire Backyard Party (Today’s Creative Life)
What a great idea for a fun and casual outdoor party in the fall.  Sign me up!

DIY Painted Mug Gift (I Heart Naptime)
Jamielyn has made the cutest snowman mug that looks so easy to make.

Thanksgiving Fall Tablescape Ideas (On Sutton Place)
Ann shares a beautiful Cinnamon & Berries Centerpiece in this post as well as links to several other wreath ideas.

15 Lovely Thanksgiving Table Settings (Tip Junkie)

That’s it for my first Table Talk….there’s a lot more to come.  Got a tidbit or two you want to share?  Join in the conversation.  I’d love to hear from you.

The leaves were spectacular. Wish there was an overlook close to the Viaduct. We came around the corner and POW….magnificent color. :)
