It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on Simply Southern Baking. Where have I been? Here’s the scoop:
Last fall, I decided to take a few months off from the world of food blogging. I had been posting less often and was at the point where I needed an extended break from the blog. At first, I was going to write a post telling you I was taking a break; however, the right words just wouldn’t come out (a serious case of writer’s block). Well, the months have passed by quickly and I’m finally getting around to sharing what’s been on my mind for quite some time.
After much thought and a few heartfelt talks with my two closest blogging friends, I’ve decided to bring Simply Southern Baking to an end and jump off the food blogging merry-go-round.
Why? The answer is quite simple: Life happens, priorities change and interests shift.
Please know that this wasn’t an all-of-a-sudden type of decision. I’ve pondered over and struggled with this for a long time. My heart has just not been in it like it was the first few years and I’m now totally okay with saying so long to this little corner of the web.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you who have tagged along on this journey with me, whether it’s been a short time or from the beginning in 2011. Also, a special thank you to all my blogging friends who have inspired me, offered words of encouragement and support, helped me with techie questions and become a part of my life over the years. I treasure the friendships I’ve made in the food blogging community.
Want to know how much work is involved in a food blog when you’re the one doing EVERYTHING? Click here for an article I wrote about the process involved in just one recipe post. ANY food blogger will tell you it’s not as easy as you may think. It’s been a hobby for me, but for some bloggers it’s a full time job in which they spend countless hours working on multiple blog posts each week to make a living. My hat goes off to them. Bravo my food blogging friends….you rock!
Simply Southern Baking will stay online until at least the middle of next year. I may tweak the look a little, but this is my last post. I hope you enjoy the recipes, stories and posts I’ve shared over the years.
Should you wish to reach me in the future, please use the contact form on this site. You can still find me on my social media channels (not so much on Twitter though).
What will I be up to?
- You’ll still find me in the kitchen baking from time to time and creating new recipes, but I’m leaving the busyness of food blogging behind. No more recording of steps, food styling, taking tons of photos, editing, and so on and so on.
- As always, searching for new country restaurants to try. You know, places that serve down home comfort food that makes you feel like you’re eating at grandma’s house.
- Continuing our favorite pastime – visiting thrift and antique stores hunting for our next treasure.
- And….I’ve been thinking and praying about starting a website completely unrelated to food. If this takes place, I’ll be sure to notify those who are on my mailing list and share on social media.
Blessings and hugs friends. Remember….you are ALWAYS enough!
